About The Cable
For the past 22 years, The Cable has continued to keep abreast with technological changes. We always have done our best to source state of the art equipment and systems whenever new technology was needed. Mr. Bill Ewing, General Manager stated that the number one priority of The Cable is, "always strive to provide customers with improved services". This sentiment has been the hallmark of The Cable since our inception.
- 1983 The Cable was incorporated, that same year we facilitated the first live TV broadcast "The Independence flag raising ceremony from Warner Park.
May 1984, we started operations on Central Street and offered 12 channels
1990 we increased the number of channels from 12 to 20 channels
1991 we moved our offices from Central Street to18 New Street
1994 we further increase the number of channels to 35
1999 The Cable upgraded the cable TV plant to a hybrid fiber coax (HFC). This gave us the ability not only to enhance the cable TV service, but to provide internet services and other telecommunication services.
2000 we again increased the number of channels to 56
2001 we moved to our permanent residents to the corner of Cayon and New Street. April 2001, the benefits of installing our fiber optic were first realized, we had evolved from a television broadcasting company and we launched our blue wave high speed internet service. Subscribers were introduced to a faster way to access the World Wide Web for entertainment and information.
2004 we completed a fiber ring around the island the entire island that has greatly enhance our redundancy and reliability for our different services.
2005 we continued our promise of improving our service by offering our customers our remote controlled set top box which will enhance picture quality and add features such as parental control and pay per view.
Over the years, The Cable has offered so many entertainment options to our subscribers and we hope to improve on our services as technology dictates.
